Hire me!
The past year has been very good for me. Aside from all of the work it’s allowed me to do on the book, I’ve taken care of myself in a way I haven’t since…well, ever, really. Did you know that if get you enough sleep you feel amazing? It’s true! That’s only one of many similar revelations I’ve had the chance to make in the past year. I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity I’ve had and wish that everyone could have the same.
Now that Business Success with Open Source is in beta and available for purchase in early release, I have the mental space available to start considering my next steps. The first one of those steps: find my next job.
What am I looking for? I have some hard and fast requirements:
- Remote: I’ve largely worked from home for the past thirteen years or so and I will not be changing that now. Naturally I’ll have no problem with flying to the office when necessary.
- Work-life balance: I like what I do, but it’s not my life. I’ll be looking for companies that respect that, including offering a reasonable amount of vacation.
- Ethical: Relatedly, company respect goes beyond employees. Companies with questionably ethical product offerings (including data harvesting, blockchain-based, or copyright-violating AI/ML), or otherwise show a lack of respect for humans and our planet are unlikely to be a good fit for me.
- Senior title and positioned to GSD: I’ve been doing this for a long time, I know my stuff, and I have the documentation to prove it. Chief Open Source Officer or Head of Open Source Program Office would be appropriate roles, as would Executive Director or something involving strategy, but I’m happy to talk about others if they’re interesting and senior enough.
Aside from these things, I can be pretty flexible. For profit? Non-profit? Either would be good. Industry? I have experience in several and don’t mind adding to that list (a return to GLAM-related would be lovely). I can even be more flexible on salary than in the past, which considerably opens up my options.
So, what can I do for you? Have a look at my website and my resume, then email me or schedule a call to talk 📅.
